Portia Asare Boateng was born on September 17, 1985, in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana. She grew up in Akropong in the Eastern Region of Ghana due to her mom’s profession. Portia Asare’s mother was a police officer, and she worked in different regions in Ghana due to being transferred. ACTING JOURNEY
Growing up, Portia Asare Boateng wanted to become a flight attendant, a news anchor, or a secretary. Though acting is what she enjoyed, one could say that she has been entertaining ages. In junior high school, in her last year, she did an audition and had the opportunity to be part of ‘Taxi Driver,’ an old television series in Ghana, where she acted as the girlfriend of Aboagye, who acted in the series. After graduating from high school in 2000, Asare decided to pursue acting full-time. With the help of her aunt, Akuaba Kuma Prempeh, who worked at GBC, she was introduced to the auditions of Mr. Kwaku Twumasi and was informed of a film audition at the Cultural Center, Kumasi, which she then attended. She landed a supporting role in her first film, titled “Dabi Dabi.”
