EARLY LIFE & BACKGROUND
Nakeeyat was born on 29th July 2012 in Takoradi, which is one of the cities in the Western Region of Ghana. Nakeeyat was brought up in a family that has been involved in civic education. Both of her parents, Mr. Kojo Dramani Sam and Mariama Mohammed, raised Nakeeyat as  someone who promotes the welfare of other people and taught genuine work and community service. Nakeeyat was born in Ajumako Eduyaw in the Central Region. She lived briefly in Takoradi before moving to Accra upon her success in Talented Kids.
As a young girl, Nakeeyat has a combination of cultural richness with an Islamic background, as her father’s family are from Cape Coast and Wa, while her mother’s family are from Fijai in the Western region. Nakeeyat is the third child of five, born and raised in a rich, supportive, and loving environment.
Education Pathway
Nakeeyat started her education at Pank Baby College in Ajumako, where her innate poetic talent was first recognized. Upon winning Talented Kids, she was awarded a scholarship to British Columbia College and eventually went on to The Royal School in Adenta, Accra. Nakeeyat’s educational experience complements her motivation for excellence not only in poetry but also in leadership and advocacy.
Career Statement
Nakeeyat’s poetry journey began at age two and a half when she recited a poem for her school’s anniversary. By the age of six, Nakeeyat notified her family of her interest in participating in TV3’s Talented Kids after seeing an advertisement for it. Nakeeyat auditioned in Takoradi, traveled with her family to the main event in Accra, and ultimately won the competition in Season 10.
The win led to a growing career. Not long after, she became officially anointed as a Sanitation Ambassador and a Young Ambassador for Peace. Nakeeyat has performed for important people, including Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as well as at events such as the Ghana Actors and Entertainers Awards, the grand opening of the Pokuase Interchange, and the Ghana Most Beautiful 2021 Grand Launch.
In addition to being a poet, Nakeeyat is a climate activist at heart. Her book, Tree is Life encourages people to plant trees as a response to climate change. He also works as a backstage presenter for Talented Kids on TV3. Nakeeyat has big hopes and dreams of becoming the UN Secretary General, being a pilot, and being Ghana’s first female president.
