Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, is an entrepreneur, rapper, and songwriter and is regarded as a giant in African music. He was born on July 10, 1985, in Koforidua, Ghana. Sarkodie is celebrated for his unique delivery styles, lyrical dexterity, and mixing traditional Ghanaian sounds with contemporary hip-hop sounds, and many consider him to be one of the best rappers in Africa and the Azonto music formulator.
Sarkodie is CEO of SarkCess Music. He has discovered and showcased a roster of talents in Ghana. He has released countless hit songs and albums since his introduction to the music industry in 2005. EARLY LIFE AND FAMILY BACKGROUND
Sarkodie was born to Mr. Augustine Owusu Addo and Madam Emma Maame Aggrey. He is the 4th out of 5 children and spent most of his early childhood with his families in Koforidua and when his family moved, in Accra and Tema. Sarkodie calls Juaso, Ashanti Region home and he draws inspiration from that area in his music.
Sarkodie began at Universal School for his primary schooling in Koforidua and later continued at Achimota Prep School in Accra. Sarkodie attended the Tema Methodist Day Senior High School (MEDASS) to complete his senior high school years. During the time that he graduated from high school, Sarkodie became increasingly interested in rap music. After graduating, he went on to the Institute of Professional and Management (IPMC) to study Graphic Design; although after a few semesters, he chose to pursue a career in music instead.
