‘Love Alone Can’t Assured a “Fantastic Life” Without Money’ – Actress, Nancy Isime Says

Nollywood actress and media personality Nancy Isime has ignited conversation online after sharing her candid views on the connection between money and a truly fulfilling relationship or marriage.

During a recent sit-down on the Tea With Tay podcast with host Taymesan, Isime took issue with the idea that love on its own is enough to build what she called a “fantastic life,” arguing that financial reality plays an undeniable role in shaping one’s quality of life.

The exchange was sparked when Taymesan suggested that people could still lead meaningful, satisfying lives even without significant wealth. Isime wasn’t convinced. She challenged the notion by painting a vivid picture of everyday financial strain — unpaid rent, school fees piling up, and bare kitchen shelves — asking how anyone could honestly call that a great life.

“When there’s rent pending and the children’s school fees and there’s no food in the house, what’s fantastic life is that?” she asked pointedly.

When some suggested her views were shaped by her current success, Isime was quick to set the record straight. She emphasized that she didn’t grow up with money and knows firsthand what financial hardship feels like — making her perspective one rooted in lived experience rather than privilege.

She was also careful to clarify that her stance wasn’t about chasing riches or dismissing the value of love. Her point, she explained, was simpler: when basic needs go unmet and debt becomes a constant companion, calling life ideal starts to feel like a stretch.
