Christian Atsu was born on January 10, 1992, in Ada Foah, Ghana, and was a member of a large family consisting of 10 siblings. He was born alongside a twin sibling, Atsupe Twasam. His major break came when he wowed scouts during a trial at Feyenoord Academy and earned a place at the highly esteemed academy, now named WAFA Sporting Club.
The Rise to Stardom: Club Career
FC PORTO
Atsu moved to Portugal at age 17 to play for FC Porto’s youth side. His performances earned him a call-up to the first team in 2011. He had a loan to Rio Ave where he had plenty of chances to prove himself, returned to Porto, and lifted the Primeira Liga trophy in the 2012/13 season.
CHELSEA & LOANS
In 2013, Atsu signed a five-year deal with Chelsea for a fee of €3.5 million. He never played a competitive game for the club but spent time on loan at several clubs including:
