Pastor Got Scam By Church Member Over Fake Dubai Visa Promise (Video)

A Nigerian pastor has come forward with a deeply personal account of betrayal, revealing how a member of his own congregation deceived him into handing over his international passport under the guise of organizing a Dubai trip — and then vanished without a trace.

In a video that quickly gained traction on X, the pastor recounted how the church member approached him with what seemed like a generous offer: help securing a Dubai visa for a short, refreshing getaway. Trusting the man’s word, he surrendered his passport as instructed and allowed himself to get caught up in the excitement of the upcoming trip, even sharing the news with family and making his way to Lagos ahead of the scheduled flight.

His anticipation, however, gave way to a rude awakening. On the day of travel, he arrived at the airport only to find that the church member had simply not shown up. Phone calls went unanswered, and within a short time, the man’s number became completely unreachable.

Speaking in Yoruba as he narrated the ordeal, the pastor made clear that he never saw his passport again. Rather than boarding a plane to Dubai, he was left to navigate the exhausting and expensive process of replacing a stolen document — a burden made heavier by the knowledge that the theft came from someone he had trusted within his faith community.

He was unequivocal that the act was deliberate, not an oversight, insisting the man had knowingly held onto his passport and cut off all contact.

In a twist, the pastor disclosed that their paths eventually crossed again — six or seven years after the incident — a reunion he described as one that stirred up the full weight of a betrayal he had never quite been able to leave behind.
